Periodontology is a branch of dentistry that deals with the treatment of periodontal disease. Until recently, periodontitis was considered an incurable disease, so we accepted the fact of relatively rapid tooth loss. With new treatment methods, we have achieved excellent results such as hardening of the teeth and healing of the gums (gingiva). Regardless of the method of treatment (surgical or non-surgical), the most important factor is the time and early presentation of the patient in order to determine the type of periodontal disease, make the periodontal status of the teeth and determine the treatment.

Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums. With timely diagnosis and therapy, the symptoms of gingivitis disappear and the progression of the disease is stopped. Periodontitis is preceded by untreated gingivitis and penetration of bacteria into the periodontal ligament, which connects the tooth to the bone.
